The people of Orange County deserve a leader representing them on the Commission who understands the top issues facing working-class families of our region. To be a strong representative in District 1, it starts with listening to constituents regardless of political affiliation and working diligently to be a voice of the top priorities facing the residents.

Addressing the Affordable Housing Crisis

Orange County, Florida is at the top of the list for places in the United State seeing the highest price increases for renters and home values are skyrocketing while wages are stagnant. This is why being a voice for a Tenants Bill Of Rights and Home Ownership Down Payment Assistance has been at the top of the priority list.

Smart Growth in Comprehensive Planning and Protecting the Rural Boundary

In District 1, the population is growing rapidly and much of this development is sprawling away from economic opportunity as well as infrastructure needed to sustain the new residents coming in. Now is the time to prepare for the future and anticipate the needs of future Orange County residents. As communities grow, our goal is to take into account the natural resources needed, flood plains, school capacity, commuting times to work, and local economies.

Conservation of our Natural Lands and Resources

Our natural lands and conservation spaces add so much life ad value to the region from being a hub of habitats for our unique biodiversity, to eco-tourism which bring in millions of dollars of revenue into the County, sustaining green jobs. This is why Commissioner Wilson’s office has been pushing for a review and improved wetlands protection and tree ordinance, to give Orange County the tools to protect our natural resources and build a resilient community.

Access to quality, safe & affordable public education

Students in Orange County deserve to focus on their education and not struggle with the lack of infrastructure needed to support their physical and emotional health. Adequate sidewalks, mental health resources, walkable parks, and less crowded buses are a focus point for the District 1 office to ensure planning ahead considers the health of our next generation.

Maintaining Home Rule & Local Control

The local commission should have the power to write policy that directly impacts the residents here at home. This is why being a voice for Home Rule is important to maintain local control from preemption.

Accessible, Affordable Public Transportation Options

Adding more lanes does NOT lessen traffic. Orange County cannot afford more cars on the roads so we must work together to make the public transportation more convenient and pedestrian / biking safer for all who with to use it.

Juvenile and Criminal Justice

Crime prevention starts at home. Together, we can pull down resources to help struggling families or individuals with mental health challenges do we can create a holistic approach to addressing crime through rehabilitation and supportive programs.

Diversity, Equality and Inclusion For All to Have Access to Optimal Quality of Life

Orange County is filled with rich diversity and a vibrant community which should remain inclusive for all people. Our LGBTQ+ Residents need support through mental health programs, accessible healthcare resources and assistance in building an inclusive culture throughout our community that welcomes our differences and unifies through love.

Gun Violence Prevention and Safe Neighborhoods

Gun violence in our streets and at our schools is becoming a greater threat to the health and safety of our residents. This is why support for the Citizens Safety Task Force and other initiatives is critical to developing resources to push back against the violence we are seeing in our community.

Sustainable and Equitable Workforce Development

With all the development and growth happening in Central Florida, accessibility to adequate paying jobs is essential. Without a livable wage and benefits, people struggle to have their basic needs met. Low-wage jobs coupled with the Pandemic is making it harder for Central Floridians to make ends meet. Diversifying our economy in Central Florida means more opportunity for the people who work here. Through collaboration and partnership, we hope to gradually fill the income gap.

Fair Voter Access and Education

Count Every Vote! This is an important message which Commissioner Wilson carries with her throughout every opportunity to talk about fair and equitable, accessible elections in order to ensure all residents have the ability to participate in the democratic process.

Healthcare Access For All

We often make a distinction between the “mind” and “body.” But when talking about health, the two go hand in hand. Poor physical health can affect our mental health and vice versa. Here in Orange County, we must work diligently to create programs for residents of all income levels to have access to healthcare support.
